Man vs Nature
6.23.2023. The third week in June, after the maple had spent weeks looking like a twig sticking out of the dirt, it burst to life, in all colors from reddish brown to vibrant green. Immediately after documenting this, the next night, it was ravaged and ruined by renegade deer who can’t seem to get their fill from the 8,000 other maple leaves in the area. They had to target this one little baby tree. As deer have a track record for stealing food, apples especially, we have declared war on trespassing deer. Nature wants to compete for food, so – challenge accepted…
6.24.2023. Despite being torn up, the maple is back at it again the next day.
4.01.2024. Winter has passed and the young maple is still standing, one winter braved. The buds sleep still.
4.18.2024. Now the buds are green and opening.
