The Survivor
4.27.2024. The African Kwanzan and the Japanese Yoshino were to be the two front trees, pink and white in the spring and summer. The Yoshino and Kwanzan were not thriving so we moved the Yoshino to the other side, and the Kwanzan right in front of the house. The Yoshino, unfortunately, did not survive.
The Kwanzan was eaten alive by Japanese beetles but braved the winter and started budding fresh in early April. Now the leaves are full and there’s a few flowers to boot.

Spring of 2024 is a few days away and the Kwanzan has finally opened a flower after heavy rains.
