6.23.2023 The Dakota Birch is a smaller birch that grows pretty straight and tight. It doesn’t have all the thick, dark bark that peels off in large strips, like the River Birch. It’s a lot cleaner, but not as pristine as the White Birch. We’re thinking Dakota might get lonely and want some friends in the future. As of now, the birds use it as a shitting post.
8.25.2023. We had to move the Dakota from the corner when we got the Himalayan birch, so we brought it toward the house when we put up the fence.
Below are December 2023, March and April 2024. You can see the Himalayan behind the Dakota. Despite the move, the Dakota barely took a hit and was the first non-fruit tree to wake up after the willow.
